Infrastructure Architect


Immediate need for an Infrastructure Architect to drive enterprise optimization by introducing cloud capabilities (inclusive of all functions) for our client-s domain across their entire enterprise! The selected candidate will be utilizing in-depth knowledge and expert skills to advance domain strategies. Translates business needs for the domain into architectural solutions that meet performance, reliability and security expectations. Applies enterprise roadmaps, principles, standards, and practices to drive their domain strategies and execution. Our client is migrating away from their on-prem data centers and into AWS Cloud; we are seeking an Infrastructure focused Architect to assist with the road mapping / designing of this enterprise-wide effort. Responsibilities include:

- Architecture and Strategy Development: Leads preparation of infrastructure architecture viewpoints and models depicting current, target, and interim states.
- Use current state viewpoints to identify and analyze pain points and opportunities (PPOs).
- Lead advanced modeling and analysis to meet the strategic needs of the organization with respect to system, information, functional/non-functional needs, performance and security/regulatory requirements.
- Create and utilize architecture patterns and ensure alignment with IT strategies and reference architectures.
- Ensure target state alignment and integration across architecture domains. Ensure upstream alignment / traceability to business needs via business architecture and downstream alignment / traceability with solution building blocks.
- Leads the extension / enhancement of infrastructure architecture strategies, standards, and guidelines.
-Architecture Management and Planning: Leads design, engineering and implementation of assets for internal use in solutions to improve solution quality; collaborate through implementation phase.
- Solution / Vendor Selection: Represent the infrastructure architecture domain in the drafting of RFIs/RFPs and the evaluation / scoring of vendor proposals. Leads collaboration with other teams (business and technical), key stakeholders, and partners to understand needs to maximize architecture impact and address technical limitations.

This position is a contract to permanent opportunity. Although this position is primarily remote, our client does have collaboration meetings 1x per week (sometimes less) in their Reston VA office. We are seeking candidates who can accommodate the weekly meeting request and resides in one of the following states: Wash DC, VA, MD or WV.

Required Skills


-Education Level: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.
-Experience: 10 years Experience in Infrastructure Architecture Domain (technology stack preference, not required, is Cisco, Palo Alto, VMware, etc..) Experience with cross connecting data centers into AWS cloud (direct circuits into AWS), routing exp etc..
-Must have Cloud Experience (AWS is preferred, Azure or GCP acceptable)
-Any On-prem data center to AWS Cloud experience considered a BIG PLUS
-Any Certifications or Healthcare Industry Experience: BIG PLUS
- Experience using architecture modeling tools (i.e., Orbus Infinity or similar).
-Experience developing integrated roadmaps aligned with business, product, and architecture strategies.
-Experience elaborating architecture strategies to develop comprehensive action plans for adoption.
-Experience developing future state vision, strategies, roadmaps, patterns and standards.
-Experience development of domain strategies and roadmaps (i.e., application, infrastructure, security, or similar).
-Experience collaborating with procurement, legal and audit on vendor/technology selection.
-Ability to collaborate with stakeholders to develop high quality solutions.
- Ability to coach, delegate, and develop architects and engineers.
- Ability to managing cross-domain architecture solutions and issues.
- Expertise with domain related architecture frameworks, methods and tools.,
- Effective organizational, interpersonal/relationship management, analytical, communications (written and verbal) and collaboration.
